Unique geologic insights from non-unique gravity and magnetic interpretation
R. W. Saltus 2011 GSA Today v. 21, no. 12, p. 4-10
The authors address the fact that there are multiple possible interpretations of potential field anomalies (gravity and magnetic data), causing many to believe that any particular interpretation is not robust. They discuss how the data and the models can be constrained to develop significant results, and apply these general ideas to uncertainty in Earth science in general, especially with respect to complex global problems such as climate change that bring many disciplines together.
