Slow Drip of Time

Native Americans once lived high up on mesas and cliffs in what is now New Mexico and Arizona. But a drought around 700 years ago caused them to abandon these high grounds and resettle in river valleys, where water was plentiful. This site contains the transcript of a radio broadcast that explains how stalagmites in caves were used to determine the precipitation levels of this time, showing that climate change was what caused people to change where and how they lived. The original 2001 broadcast was approximately 2 minutes in length.
