This EPA site gives the user the opportunity to search for information about watersheds in the United States and its Territories. Users are given a variety of ways to find the desired watershed, which include clickable state maps, city, river, county, metropolitan area, tribal area, state, lakes, airports, parks, schools, ecosystem, and Zip code. Once the desired watershed is located the user will find a Watershed Profile. Within this profile environmental information (The Index of Watershed Indicators) about the watershed will be found. These watershed indicators look at a variety of indicators that point to whether rivers, lakes, wetlands and costal areas are "well" or "ailing" and whether activities on the surrounding lands affect the watershed. Assessments of Watershed Health, Environmental Information, Aquifer data, Stream Flow data, Water Use, and even Science in Your Watershed are other links that may be used. Other aspects of the profile include land characteristic data, local and national citizen-based activities such as Adopt Your Watershed, and air quality issues. There are also links to thousands of URL's about environmental and a special Add Your Information link that allow the user to add sites to the database. The Watershed Atlas is also available through this site. This atlas is a catalog of geo-spatial displays and analyses of information and data important for watershed protection and restoration.
