This resource provides an overview of the concept of sustainability. Sustainable development is development which meets the needs of the present without compromising the ability of future generations to meet their own needs. Today's environmental problems are largely a consequence of the unsustainable consumption of natural resources and the mismanagement of waste products. Topics include environmentally friendly solutions to problems of energy and power, land use and planning, waste disposal and recycling, and public health.
