This United States Geological Survey (USGS) on-line publication discusses the events of the 1980 eruption of Mount Saint Helens in Washington state and subsequent volcanic activity since that time. The report begins with the first signs of activity before the May 18th eruptions and a summary of the eruption with information about lahars, ash falls and volcanic gases. The report also discusses explosions, dome growth and eruptions since May 1980 to the year 2000.
