http://www.gsfc.nasa.gov/gsfc/earth/environ/lakechad/chad.htm

Lynn Jenner, NASA / Goddard Space Flight Center

Lake Chad, once one of the African continent's largest bodies of fresh water, has dramatically decreased in size due to climate change and human demand for water. This site is dedicated to displaying remotely sensed imagery that shows the decrease in the size of Lake Chad over time. Imagery is available from 1963, 1973, 1987, and 1997 as individual images or as a Quicktime file. There is a link to a press release, which provides more facts on the history and changing characteristics of Lake Chad.
