This list of recommendations for making reforms to doctoral education is from an April, 2000 conference on Re-Envisioning the Ph.D. at the University of Washington. Nine Sectors were asked to address the issues of Re-envisioning the Ph.D. in the common language of their own professional peer groups. They answered the question, "What can our sector do to contribute to changing doctoral education?" Their responses focused on specific concerns, interests and needs as diverse stakeholders in doctoral education.
