Earthworks is a professional development program for science teachers that includes fieldwork, observations, problem-based learning, and practice with a variety of teaching and learning techniques. During the one-week workshop, science teachers work directly with research scientists conducting their own field-based research in a chosen Earth system content area. Based on their direct research experiences from the workshop, teachers create lesson plans they intend on implementing during the following academic year. A collection of these implementation plans, developed during the workshop from 1999 through 2001, are available on this page. They are listed under the following content headings: animal ecology, atmospheric chemistry, climate change, geology, plant biology, and water quality.
