The site contains 54 photomicrographs of thin sections taken from the Rustenburg Layered Suite of the Bushveld Complex in South Africa. The photomicrographs are organized by the layers from which the samples were taken. Some of the rock types represented are dunite, peridotite, pyroxenite, norite, anorthosite, gabbronorite, and magnetite gabbronorite. Chromite seams are present in several of the horizons. Each thin section includes a rock name and a short caption. This resource is part of the Teaching Petrology collection. http://serc.carleton.edu/NAGTWorkshops/petrology03/index.html
