Experiments over the tropical Indian Ocean investigate the effect of sea-salt aerosols created by oceanic winds on the Earth’s heat balance. Results indicate that sea-salt aerosols generated by moderate winds reduce solar heating by nearly half, whereas high winds increase the radiation levels coming from the Earth.
