This is a survey reporting the phylogenetic diversity of Mono Lake bacteria as conducted by the Mono Lake Microbial Observatory. Samples were collected from different layers of the lake and analyzed for variation in relation to depth. Molecular techniques such as PCR amplification, cloning, and sequencing of 16s rRNA genes were utilized to produce a table of ribotype distribution in Mono Lake clone libraries.
