Improving the preparation for fieldwork with IT: two examples from physical geography
J. Warburton, and M. Higgitt 1997 Journal of Geography in Higher Education. v21(3), p169-179

This paper investigates two ways information technology (IT) can enhance fieldwork preparation. The author asserts that geographic information systems (GIS) and computer-based tutorials can help prepare students for fieldwork and that well-prepared students acclimate to a field site more quickly, are better able to focus on key issues, and use their field time more effectively.
