The bioluminescence web site provides researchers and planners a resource of reliable information from what, in effect, is a continuous informal conference of experts and users. The site includes an informational page with links to a research forum, answers to visitor questions, the truth behind commonly held misconceptions about bioluminescence, the range of organisms - from bacteria and single-celled protists to fish and squid – producing marine bioluminescence, photos of luminous organisms, chemical reactions and physiology, and expert information about symposia, modeling, and instruments.
