Andrew MacRae, University of Calgary

This site features an overview of the Burgess Shale and examples of fossils found there. It provides a brief history of the Shale’s formation and stratigraphic location, as well as photographs and short descriptions of bedding and various arthropods, crustaceans, sponges, trilobites, priapulid worms and other unique Cambrian critters. The images were taken in the Walcott and Raymond quarries on September 24, 1995 by the site’s author, Dr. Andrew MacRae of the University of Calgary.
