A Cooperative Approach to Teaching Mineral Identification

This paper describes the implementation of a Jigsaw cooperative learning activity as a mean of teaching students how to identify minerals in a freshman-level geology lab. The paper lays out relevant research about cooperative learning and the jogsaw method and then describes the activity in detail. It also provides helpful tips for other instructors who attempt to use this activity.
