Montana High-Potassium Igneous Province
B. Carter Hearn, F.O. Dudas, D.H. Eggler, D.W. Hyndman, H.E. O'Brien, I.S. McCallum, A.J. Irving, R.B. Berg 1989 American Geophysical Union Field Trip Guidebook T346

This field trip guidebook was published as part of the 28th International Geological Congress and features six road logs to major and minor igneous centers in central Montana. This broad area has been of particular interest to petrologists for more than 90 years because of the abundance of alkalic rocks, including some rare varieties, that were described in several reconnaissance studies in the late 19th century and three decades of modern petrologic, isotopic, and geophysical studies. Access is relatively easy and the rocks are well exposed.
