The author describes three different situations in which we use our quantitative skills: 1) Computational Situations-where a number is the desired result, 2) Decision-making Situations-where numerical results guide our decision making, and 3) Interpretive Situations-where quantitative information is combined with other information and value judgments to come to an understanding.
