Aviso

This extensive and well-organized site distributes satellite altimetry data which are used to study ocean dynamics and geophysics. Applications of these data include climate prediction modeling, monitoring of mean sea level, global warming, El Niño and La Niña events, marine currents and ocean circulation, tide, wind, wave and marine meteorology models. The site has a live access server which allows users to select their own dataset, region, and output model. The site also features an image gallery, glossary, explanation of how satellite altimetry works, information about the particular satellites used to obtain the data, and collaborating international organizations. The site is organized into topic areas for beginner, intermediate, and advanced users, but may also be explored at random.
