The McMurdo Dry Valley Lakes Microbial Observatory
This site is home to the McMurdo Dry Valley Lakes Observatory, a research group studying an area with valleys that harbor the only permanently ice-covered lakes on Earth, previously thought to harbor little life. The McMurdo Microbial Observatory research focuses on the search for novel microorganisms and studies the interplay of microbial diversity and ecosystem function. The site includes an introduction, information on the principal investigators, student opportunities, a variety of data sources, images, additional useful links, and outreach.
