U. S. Soil Erosion Rates - Myth and Reality
Stanley W. Trimble, Pierre Crosson 2000 Science v289, p248-250
Trimble and Crosson's "Policy Forum" article reviews and criticizes commonly used practices for estimating soil erosion on U.S. land, pointing out that annual U. S. cropland soil erosion loss estimates vary from 2 billion tons to 6.8 billion tons. They conclude that models need a better basis in field measurements.
