Acting Out Science: Using Senate Hearings to Debate Global Climate Change

This article describes the design and implementation of a role-playing exercise which is set in a Senate hearing about global warming. The students play senators and members of special interest groups with varying perspectives and agendas on the issue. The preparation for the role-play motivated the students to learn about the scientific background of the debate.
