This paper describes a survey conducted by the authors which solicited responses from all 548 U.S. institutions that grant Bachelor's degrees or above in geosciences, and asked faculty to describe their vision of key concepts in geoscience subdisciplines, their prevailing teaching strategies, and the courses that should comprise the required core of a geoscience curriculum.
