Clinical Practice Workshop for Teacher Prep Programs from around the state

Clinical Practice Workshop for Teacher Preparation Program teams from around the state on the campus of Seattle University, April 27 2019.

The goals of this 1-day workshop are:

1. Increase participants' knowledge of the core research-based, student-centered disciplinary core practices in teaching and learning that pre-service teachers can enact to support pK-12 students' meaning-making and equitable opportunities to learn.
2. Increase participants' knowledge and ability to use a learning cycle to create authentic, equitable, and ambitious instructional activities that support core disciplinary practices.
   Note: Core Practices are research-based, high-frequency strategies, routines, and moves that can be unpacked and learned by teachers in ways that preserve the integrity and complexity of teaching. Examples: leading a group discussion; explaining and modeling content, practices, and strategies; eliciting and interpreting students' thinking; building classroom community, etc.
3. Increase participants' knowledge of teacher education pedagogies that create cohesive, cyclical, transferable learning experiences for pre-service teachers.
