Clinical Practice Workshop for Teacher Preparation Program teams from around the state on the campus of Seattle University, April 27 2019.
The goals of this 1-day workshop are:
- Increase participants' knowledge of the core research-based, student-centered disciplinary core practices in teaching and learning that pre-service teachers can enact to support pK-12 students' meaning-making and equitable opportunities to learn.
- Increase participants' knowledge and ability to use a learning cycle to create authentic, equitable, and ambitious instructional activities that support core disciplinary practices.
Note: Core Practices are research-based, high-frequency strategies, routines, and moves that can be unpacked and learned by teachers in ways that preserve the integrity and complexity of teaching. Examples: leading a group discussion; explaining and modeling content, practices, and strategies; eliciting and interpreting students' thinking; building classroom community, etc. - Increase participants' knowledge of teacher education pedagogies that create cohesive, cyclical, transferable learning experiences for pre-service teachers.
