Eyes on Satellite Data Registration and Pre-Course Survey

Complete this form to register for Eyes on Satellite Data. The course begins on April 30th, 2012 and runs for four weeks, ending on May 27, 2012. Classroom science, math, engineering, and technology teachers are eligible to apply. We recommend the course for those teaching students in grades 7 to 12. You will receive a $200 stipend for completing course activities. The course will help you to use online tools and techniques for incorporating satellite imagery and data into your curriculum.

Eyes on Satellite Data is designed to help you learn geospatial technology by working through prepared activities. Our primary goal is to help you and your students use NASA data and geospatial technology to investigate global and local issues in environmental science. Each week, you will be given a set of weekly goals and tasks to complete by the end of the week. The week begins on Monday and ends on Sunday. In general, we typically ask that you make an initial posting, often with an image or a screen shot attached to it by Thursday and that you discuss ideas with others in the course from Friday through Sunday.

Indicate how each of the following describes STUDENT computer usage and availability in your classroom/school.

Self assessment of information technology skills prior to taking the course. It is perfectly fine if you do not know these skills yet. Use the numeric scale to rate your level of understanding and use of image analysis techniques in ImageJ, use of NASA NEO, and use of NASA Giovanni.

Thank you for registering. Within a day or two, you will receive a follow up email with further information and access to precourse materials. We will ask that you confirm your participation in the course by creating an account (to access course discussions) and by introducing yourself to others.
