Course Context:

This workshop series supported Mt San Antonio STEM students in exploring internships and possible institutions to transfer to once completing their coursework at Mt. San Antonio College.

Course Content:

In this workshop series, faculty in ESTEM-related careers guided students in developing CVs, resumes, and cover letters for application to internships.

Assessment:

There was no formal assessment in this implementation of the professional development workshop series. In future implementations, encouraging students to participate in a survey that gathers information on the internships to which students applied, offers the students received, or the nature of their interactions with professionals would provide valuable information regarding students' takeaways from the workshops.

Workshop 1: CVs

Three professors from the Chemistry, Life Sciences, and Earth Science and Astronomy departments worked with students in groups and one-on-one to develop their CVs.


Workshop 2: Cover Letters

Professors worked with students in groups and one-on-one to develop their cover letters.


Workshop 3: Internships

Professors provided an explicit list (WorkshopInternshipList.docx (Microsoft Word 2007 (.docx) 18kB Apr15 20)) and guidance on internships that are accessible to 2YC students.
