Communication Tools for Teachers

Nick Haddad and Carla McAuliffe from the DataTools project.

Elluminate Web-Conferencing Software

The ITEST DataTools project (along with the NSDL-funded EET Workshops project) is using Elluminate Web-confercning software as a unique method of communicating with teachers. The DataTools professional development program begins with a series of teleconference/online workshops that expose teachers to the three key data analysis software tools of the program.

These teleconference online workshops are conducted in a unique and effective way. Participants work at their own Internet-connected computers, and dial into a toll-free group teleconference for step-by-step facilitation and interaction. They also receive support via Elluminate, a Web-conferencing software. The software allows particpants to see the facilitator's computer as the analysis techniques of an EET chapter are demonstrated. If needed, the facilitator can also view individual particpant's comptuters, assisting with technical difficulties.

Elluminate Configuration Check

To make sure your browser can support Elluminate, click the Elliminate Configuration Check above.

We have found that school firewalls can sometimes prevent participants from accessing Elluminate. To test your ability to connect to an Elluminate Classroom, click the link above. You can ignore the instructions for configuring your audio. We will be using the telephone, rather than Elluminate to talk to each other.
