Hi MaryAnn

You should be able to use this lab as a reference for any future lecture on surface area. Surface area, especially at the middle school age, can be a hard concept to understand. For you lab, the more surface area - faster chemical reaction. Do you have plans to use surface area in the future?

Nice job, the instructions were complete. The student sample showed had a quick summary which showed that they did get the idea.

Hello Diane,

I thought about using a similar lab investigating speed of erosion and surface area.

Thanks,

MaryAnn

Hi MaryAnn,

I like all the cross over here - life science, earth science, chemistry, math. I am finally getting my investigations together to implement in the second semester, and your project has gotten me thinking about many different options...I may very well be tweaking what you have here to work in my classroom...I'll let you know how it goes!
