Ok attached is my lesson for our park designs. My students created a rough draft of a park they would build. They then used excel to draw out the park and include clip art with a graph paper background. Then we took screen shots and copied them into paint. We saved those in JPEG format. The next two days students opened the parks with Image-J and set scales and measure their parks and objects in the parks. They spent the rest of the time fixing the size of their areas and objects so all was to scale just like a real life engineer would!

Hi Diana,
Do you have a sample of a student park design? I'd love to see what one of these looks like.
Thanks,---Carla

Hi diana,
Didn't know you could use Excel the way you used it - I like it. Might just have to find ways to use Excel in this way sometime this year. Thanks for the idea.
Sue
