I attended a TI calculator workshop late last month and wanted to adapt an activity to use Excel instead of the TI's. My 8th grade students are going to see the CSI experience exhibit at the science museum later this month and I thought the activity would spark some excitement. Attached is the investigation template, the student handout file, and an example of the Excel file with student data and charts.

Peter-
I am going to try this in math class as a follow up to my Excel activity and our study of linear equations in Algebra class. I'll let you know how it goes--I will tell them to walk purposefully!

I wanted to do Peter's activity in math class, so I rewrote his worksheet with a bit more of a math focus. I am posting it in case any other math teachers want to try this activity.

Peter,
This will be a great follow-up activity for my team as we are going on Wednesday to the museum. Thanks for creating and sharing.
