Figure 4. Annual suspended-sediment yield from rivers at Mount St. Helens. See Figure 1 for basin disturbances and station locations. Shaded region depicts range of, and horizontal dashed line depicts mean value of, mean annual yields of several western Cascade Range rivers (updated from Major et al., 2000). SRS indicates when a sediment retention structure began trapping sediment on the North Fork Toutle River (cf. Figure 1), and spillway bypass indicates when some sediment began bypassing the structure over its spillway.
