Course Evaluation

From the Geology Department, University of Vermont

Purpose

To improve teaching effectiveness, particularly in relation to instructors' stated course goals

Implementation

This form is given (anonymously, on paper, faculty member not present in the room) in every geology course

Use of the Data

Data are summarized and given to the chair and faculty member, and discussed at annual faculty evaluations

Effectiveness

It's been pretty effective, in part because it forces faculty to think in terms of student learning outcomes
