Survey of Field Camp Directors

From the Geology Department at St. Norbert College

Purpose

We use this survey in order to assess the preparation of our students for field camp (which we require in our major). We consider field camp a capstone course that serves as a good measure of how well our students have learned and synthesized the content of their major courses.

Implementation

Sent via email to the field camp directors. Returned via email or paper copy.

Use of the Data

We focus on whether the feedback reflects issues with the content of our courses (curriculum) or may be student specific--and then decide how to address any curricular issues.

Effectiveness

I think we have found this instrument to be fairly helpful (along with an alumni survey we developed)
