This mini lesson involves Image J and images from NASA's Earth Observatory website. The images taken in 1985, 2002, 2005, show the various amount ice melting off the coast of Greenland. The island was thought to be an ice covered peninsula and is a great lead in for Global Warming.
Students can make an animated stake and also measure the amounts of ice melt.

Hello Diane,
These images are amazing. I will definitely use these in my Earth Science class. What a great way to get kids to "see" global warming.

Those images are striking. I'll definately work with my students in Image J using them when we study climate change.
Thanks
