NASA Earth Observations (NEO)
http://neo.sci.gsfc.nasa.gov/The mission of NASA Earth Observations (NEO) is to provide satellite images of Earth so that people can picture the Earth system and how it varies. Images can be selected and basic analyses performed within NEO. In addition, images can be downloaded in jpeg, png, geotiff, and Google Earth format for analysis in other applications, such as image analysis programs, GIS programs, and geovisualization programs like Google Earth. All satellite imagery is in the public domain, which means it is freely available. When using NEO images, credit NASA as the source.

Image Composite Explorer (ICE)
http://neo.sci.gsfc.nasa.gov/ICE is NEO's buit-in java program for image analysis. Using pre-prepared images, ICE analyzes remotely-sensed observations of various Earth variables, provides the exact value of those variables at a given place in an image, and plots the results of analyses using a variety of graphing techniques.

ImageJ

It runs, either as an online applet or as a downloadable application, on any computer with a Java 1.1 or later virtual machine. ImageJ can display, edit, analyze, process, save and print 8-bit, 16-bit and 32-bit images. It can read many image formats including TIFF, GIF and JPEG. It can "stack" a series of images that share a single window. It can calculate area and pixel value statistics of user-defined selections. It can measure distances and angles. Images can be zoomed up to 32:1 and down to 1:32. All analysis and processing functions are available at any magnification factor. Spatial calibration can be set to provide real world dimensional measurements.
