U.S. House passes bill HR3293 on NSF research

The Scientific Research in the National Interest Act (HR 3293) has been passed. This bill requires that NSF funding be worthy of federal funding and in the national interest. See updates from Science and the press release from the Committee on Science, Space, and Technology.

Updated: U.S. House passes controversial bill on NSF research

As expected, the House of Representatives yesterday passedH.R. 3293by a 236 to 178 vote.Lawmakers voted largely along party lines, with just seven Democrats voting in favor of the bill and four Republicans against.
