Integrating Discovery –based Research into the Undergraduate Curriculum

Emerging evidence suggests that engaging undergraduates in discovery research as early as possible during their undergraduate years is one of the best strategies for supporting and retaining STEM students and improving aspects of scientific literacy. But how can we reach out and provide such experiences for larger numbers of students? A dozen creative solutions from different faculty members are showcased in the report of a recent National Academies of Sciences, Engineering, and Medicine convocation, Integrating Discovery –based Research into the Undergraduate Curriculum.The report also discusses leveraging resources, the challenges of scaling up, and institutional strategies.
