Culturally Sustaining Pedagogy in a Science Classroom: The Phenomenology of the Pit House

This study examined the affordances that culturally sustaining pedagogy (CSP) offered in physical science, biology and environmental science classrooms. CSP provides an instructional framework to create an environment where trust is established and student worldviews are honored. The study discussed the practical and theoretical implications for CSP through the lens of Critical Race Theory (CRT) and Tribal Critical Theory (TribalCrit).
