Instructions and Resources
This page holds supporting resources that will be referred to as you progress through the research assessment process.
End-of-Summer Assignments:
At the end of the summer, students submit two documents. Attach files to an email to orsp@uwec.edu, with "EvaluateUR Research Summary - your name" and "EvaluateUR Statement - your name" in the subject line.
Research Summary
Write a summary of your research project. You may not have completed the project, but you should take stock of your summer achievements by summarizing your work to date. Please discuss the expected format with your mentor, and expect to work with your mentor to polish your work.
Topics you might include:
- Project Goals or aims
- Relevant background and context
- Approach/methodology
- Findings/progress so far and any analysis/conclusions
- Next steps
Past participants have found this summary to be very helpful as they completed their project during the following academic year and prepared to present their work at CERCA or other conferences.
If your mentor does not specify a desired format, follow the outline above to write a short paper, up to about 3 pages of text along with any figures you wish to include (graphs, tables, images, etc.).
Statement of Transferrable Skills
Refer to the list of research outcomes that EvaluateUR has used for assessment this summer. Outcomes_Categories_Components.docx (Acrobat (PDF) 133kB May9 19). Select 3-5 specific skills from the list that you deem most relevant to your future plans (e.g., job search or graduate school). In a sentence or two (per skill) describe how some aspect of your research experience demonstrates your proficiency in that skill.
For example, for "Autonomy: Accepts constructive criticism and applies feedback effectively" you might describe a time when your mentor suggested substantial edits on something you wrote and how you were able to significantly improve the text through a major revision based on mentor comments.
