Background Information
Jeff Sommers is Professor Emeritus, English, Miami University, from which he retired in 2008, moving into his current position at West Chester University. Jeff earned his PhD at NYU (1980). He has authored or edited four books on writing instruction and assessment and numerous articles in journals such as College Composition and Communication, Inventio, TETYC, the Journal of Teaching Writing, and the Journal of Basic Writing. He lives in Philadelphia and is the proud father of two college professor sons (Assoc. Professor, Psychology at Tufts University; Assistant Professor, Health Policy, Harvard University), and one law-school bound son (U of Pennsylvania, Class of '11)and husband of one college professor (Professor, Nursing, U of Pennsylvania).
