Students in GEOL 2000 Earth System Science are introduced to the field site in Hot Springs Park, Thermopolis, WY. Prt of the study area contains pre-historic travertine terraces that drape the sides of cliffs on the Big Horn River. They are often referred to as "giant stromatolites" by the students.
