Schematic of plateau glacier remnants

Figure 4. A schematic diagram (Whalley et al., 1995) showing the gradual disappearance of a glacier on a plateau. This would give no, or very little, trace of the ice unless it has spilled over the plateau edge and formed a small glacier in a cirque below. Moraines might have formed but if the ice had not transported debris on its surface then even these moraines might have been small or insignificant.
