Figure 2. Non-linear increase in soil flux (Qt) with increasing slope angle, as determined in hand-held tillage erosion experiments conducted in China (Zhang et al., 2004); Thailand (Turkelboom et al., 1997, 1999); Lao PDR (Dupin et al., 2009); and Vietnam (Ziegler et al, 2007). Great variation exists in the slope-soil flux relationship because of the size of the hoeing implement, intensity of hoeing, and/or surface conditions of the field (after Ziegler and Sutherland, 2009).
