'Big Eddy' bench in the Ovens River

Figure 1: Looking across to the mature bench attached to the concave bank. The fine-grained sediments and periodic wetting of the bench make it conducive to the colonisation by water tolerant trees, and grasses during the dryer months (picture taken in early summer) which increase roughness and further encourage sediment deposition.
