working the line

Crew members "work the line," removing rock matrix bit by bit and sorting through the rubble in search of bones, teeth, and eggshell. Unlike some dinosaur dig sites, where crews work to remove giant bones from the ground, the majority of labor at Egg Mountain consists of picking through rubble in search of much tinier fossil elements. Trust me, it's still fun!
