Fig. 4: Compared to ERT, investigations using GPR deliver additional data on internal subsurface structure. Herein, the near surface permafrost table (3 - 4 m) could be clearly distinguished from underlying massive ground ice (~ 12 - 15 m), whereas ERT just shows a successive increase in resistivity.
