Brownfield Action Overview

Brownfield Action Overview
Presentation for Teaching Environmental Geology On the Cutting Edge Workshop, June 3, 2012
Description of my adaptation and use of Brownfield Action (an NSF-funded multimedia model for teaching environmental science developed at Columbia University's Barnard College) as a team project involving the application of ASTM site assessment practices to a virtual contamination site. Within Brownfield Action, students a use a combination of visual reconnaissance, site history, and interviews to conduct and document a Phase I Environmental Site Assessment (ESA), and, if warranted, utilize appropriate subsurface testing to conduct and document a Phase II ESA for the site.
