Pulse of the Planet

This two-minute sound segment discusses possible indicators of global warming. Because records were kept of when the first bird arrived, when the first insects were seen, when the first flower opened, when the first buds broke, people have noticed that these events are happening earlier and earlier, over the last few decades. Some scientists think that this is some of the best evidence that global warming is affecting the plants and animals around us. This site is from an archive of a daily radio program called Pulse of the Planet which provides its listeners with a portrait of Planet Earth, tracking the rhythms of nature, culture and science worldwide and blending interviews and extraordinary natural sound. The site also provides a written transcript of the broadcast.
