This description of the inland waters in the polar regions of Canada includes lakes, rivers, and wetlands. In addition, the site provides information on the ecozones of the Hudson Bay, Yukon-Mackenzie, and the Arctic Archipelago. For all areas the subject of ice is addressed to include the effects of inland ice, types of ice, and ice as a climate predictor as well as snow cover and freeze and thaw processes. The top ten lakes are shown on a map and links lead to information on each. Special lake formations are discussed and include glacial scour, ice dammed, isostatic, kettle, oxbow, and thermokarst lakes. The ten top rivers are also shown and discussed and information is included about braided, glacial, and meandering rivers. Wetlands discussed include marshes, peat mound bogs, polygonal wetlands, salt marshes, snowpatch fens, and tundra ponds.
