Noon Shadows on the Equinox

This middle/junior high school activity has students measure the angle of the shadow cast by the midday sun on the equinox and compare it to their latitude. Data from classes that have done the exercise may be posted on a web page. This activity is part of the Atmospheric Visualization Collection (AVC), which focuses on data from the Atmospheric Radiation Measurement (ARM) program.
