Discover Our Earth provides information, interactive tools, and activities on earthquakes, volcanoes, topography, plate tectonics, and sea level change. The educators' page provides teachers with basic background information about selected Earth science topics and suggests student activities and exercises that can be employed in classroom settings. Educators are encouraged to adopt, adapt, and modify the exercises to suit their needs or situation. The students' page provides information on how to use the interactive, web-based QUEST mapping tool. Using QUEST, students construct maps using datasets which are provided, make observations, and answer questions about what they see. There is also a mapping tool for more advanced users, GEOID, which provides a dynamic mapping interface suitable for research which can be used with either the provided datasets or the users' own data.
